The Kuari Pass Trek is one of the most rewarding mountain journeys in Uttarakhand, offering a perfect blend of forest trails, alpine meadows, and expansive Himalayan views. Often referred to as the Curzon Trail, the route follows ancient mountain paths through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Garhwal Himalayas.

Beginning from the remote mountain villages near Joshimath, the trail gradually ascends through dense oak and rhododendron forests before opening into vast meadows surrounded by towering peaks. Along the way, trekkers are rewarded with ever-changing views of Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Hathi-Ghoda, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and several other Himalayan giants.

Driving Distance: Approx. 306 km | Duration: 9–10 Hours | Altitude: Approx. 6,500 ft | Stay: Guesthouse

Drive through the scenic Alaknanda valley, passing Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Joshimath before reaching Karchi Village. Spend the evening settling in, meeting fellow trekkers, and preparing for the journey ahead.

Trek Distance: Approx. 4.5 km | Duration: 4–5 Hours | Altitude: Approx. 9,600 ft | Stay: Campsite

The trail begins through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests, gradually gaining altitude as the first mountain views begin to emerge. Reach Gulling, a peaceful campsite surrounded by forests and Himalayan landscapes.

Trek Distance: Approx. 5.5 km | Duration: 4–5 Hours | Altitude: Approx. 11,000 ft | Stay: Campsite

Continue through dense forests and alpine clearings as the scenery gradually opens up. Along the way, enjoy increasingly impressive views of the surrounding peaks before reaching the beautiful campsite at Khullara.

Trek Distance: Approx. 11–12 km | Duration: 7–8 Hours | Highest Elevation: 14,665 ft | Stay: Campsite

Begin early and ascend towards Kuari Pass, the highlight of the trek. The pass rewards trekkers with spectacular views of Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and numerous surrounding peaks. After spending time at the pass, descend through alpine terrain towards the scenic campsite at Tali.

Trek Distance: Approx. 8–10 km | Duration: 5–6 Hours Trek + Drive | Stay: Guesthouse

The trail passes through the expansive meadows of Gorson Bugyal, one of Uttarakhand’s most beautiful alpine grasslands. Continue towards Auli, known for its spectacular Himalayan views, before driving back to Karchi Village for the night.

Driving Distance: Approx. 306 km | Duration: 9–10 Hours

After breakfast, begin the return journey towards Rishikesh. The drive follows the scenic mountain roads of Garhwal through river valleys, traditional villages, and Himalayan landscapes before arriving back in Rishikesh.
