Explore Roopkund, One Of The Himalayas’ Most Iconic High-Altitude Treks

Journey through ancient forests, vast alpine meadows, and high Himalayan terrain as you trek towards the mysterious Roopkund Lake beneath the towering peaks of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.

The Journey

Roopkund Trek

Few treks in the Indian Himalayas combine mythology, alpine landscapes, and high-altitude adventure quite like the Roopkund Trek. Beginning from the traditional mountain village of Wan, the trail gradually climbs through oak and rhododendron forests before opening into the spectacular meadows of Bedni Bugyal, one of the largest alpine grasslands in the Himalayas.

As the journey progresses, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic. Rolling meadows give way to rugged mountain terrain, offering ever-expanding views of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

The highlight of the trek is Roopkund Lake, a glacial lake situated at approximately 16,000 ft and known for its unique history and remote setting. Combined with beautiful campsites, diverse terrain, and breathtaking mountain scenery, Roopkund remains one of the most rewarding trekking experiences in Uttarakhand.

This journey is conducted in a small-group format with a focus on comfort, safety, and overall experience. Quality camping equipment, nutritious meals, experienced trek leaders, and dedicated support staff help create a more enjoyable trekking experience in the mountains.
